8 Wrestlers Who Surprisingly Never Held WWE Gold

6. Jim Duggan

He carried a plank of wood to the ring and yelled "hooo". To modern ears, it might sound a little kooky, but throw in some hearty American patriotism, and you've got one of the most beloved WWE stars of his era.

Don't forget - as a measure of how much faith Vince and co had placed in "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan - that he won the first ever Royal Rumble in 1988 (granted, this was before it was made tradition that the winner would go onto challenge for the WWE title at WrestleMania).

He spent more than half a decade with WWE in his original run, and re-joined them as a part-timer in his twilight years, but surprisingly never wore any of their title belts. The closest he came was in the early '90s when he feuded with Shawn Michaels over the Intercontintental Championship, but the company for some reason favoured pushing their young talent over a guy who was winding down his contract (and, sure enough, he did taste title success in WCW after jumping ship).
