8 WWE Dropouts Who Revived Their Careers

1. Jon Moxley

Ricochet
AEW

Jon Moxley's superb autobiography, Mox, does a great job of getting inside his head and inviting readers in to what makes him tick. A man who values the smell of a ring canvas and a crowd so close to the ring he can hear their curse words over giant lasers and trips to Saudi Arabia, Moxley was never able to properly express himself as Dean Ambrose.

Emerging as part of The Shield, the Ambrose character showed flashes of Heath Ledger's Joker in his gonzo-recorded promos with the stable. This unhinged unpredictability was so clearly where the money was with him, but these edges would be smoothed out over the years, being reduced to laughable creative like feuding with Chris Jericho over a potted plant, and a ridiculous program with Nia Jax.

As the clock struck midnight when his WWE contract ran out, Moxley posted a video on Twitter of him breaking out of prison, causing an instant viral sensation. He is among the best signings made by AEW, with his mic skills and in-ring work consistently at the highest level achievable. They say "never say never", but it is almost impossible to imagine Moxley ever returning to WWE under any circumstances.
