8 WWE Legends Who Got One Over On Vince McMahon

3. Brock Lesnar

Speaking of which, Brock also sued the WWE in 2004 over the contents of his no-compete clause. Lesnar signed the no-compete to secure his release in March 2004 as he wanted to try and realise another dream of playing in the NFL. The terms of the no-compete clause meant that Lesnar couldn't compete for any wrestling or MMA group until June 2014. Football didn't quite work out, however, and Lesnar needed to get back to grafting. Keenly aware of his name value in wrestling, Lesnar took WWE to court to get the no-compete removed. WWE responded (they always do) by demanding damages from Lesnar, claiming that he breached the terms of the agreement by appearing for New Japan Pro Wrestling. Lesnar and WWE tried to patch things up but Lesnar wasn't interested in going back to the company and found their contract offer insulting. The courts ruled in favour of Lesnar and he and Vince settled out-of-court. Lesnar was free to work wherever he wanted. Sticking it to WWE, Lesnar remade the F5 as 'The Verdict' when wrestling in Japan, as a way to brag about his courtroom success. Lesnar currently has the best contract of any wrestler in WWE and is absolutely raking it in. Lesnar (and his lawyers) definitely beat Vince in this case.
