8 WWE Stars With The Best Character Arcs Right Now
3. AJ Styles
AJ Styles has been in WWE a mere five months and he already has a clearer character arc than a majority of the current roster.
WWE changing very little if anything about him from his TNA and New Japan Pro Wrestling days has made his run thus far that much cooler. It has been brought up time and time again how he has solidified himself as a star all over the world for the past decade and a half, but he never felt he had truly made it until he signed with WWE at the start of 2016.
Regarded as one of the greatest wrestlers in the world today, Styles set out to prove his worth in matches versus Chris Jericho. Each of them scored two wins apiece against each other, and although Jericho beat him at WrestleMania 32, Styles avenged the loss the next night on Raw by pinning him to become the new No. 1 contender to Roman Reigns' WWE World Heavyweight Championship.
Again, The Phenomenal One fell short of becoming champion, but those back-to-back losses to Reigns weren't for nothing. They caused him to grow disgruntled and frustrated, leading to his heel turn against John Cena on the Memorial Day Raw. He succeeded in what he set out to do in defeating "the face that runs the place" at Money in the Bank, and now he plans on continuing to ascend in the ranks in WWE.
