Back in 2015, wrestling fans were 'treated' to a storyline where Rusev ditched Lana in favour of Summer Rae, while The Ravishing Russian herself was soon romantically involved with Dolph Ziggler.

The angle wasn't exactly great, mainly due to fans being fully aware that Rusev and Lana were still a very real couple away from the squared circle, but it was the social media activity of Lana that brought this whole on-screen situation to a crashing halt.

Completely ignoring what was happening on WWE TV, Lana would regularly take to her social media channels to post pictures of her wearing what looked like an engagement ring. And an engagement ring, it was - with the real-life engagement of Lana and Rusev later confirmed extremely publicly by TMZ.

While Lana's social media antics, and the ensuing TMZ announcement, had the benefit of seeing a truly awful angle being dropped, it was sadly yet another reason for Vince McMahon to sour on Rusev and Lana.

And here we are in 2019, with WWE deciding on another troubled romance angle for the duo, this time with Lana leaving Rusev in favour of Bobby Lashley.
