5. Austin Gets Baited By Vince McMahon & Dude Love

It's hard to imagine a time where Stone Cold Steve Austin might have been even remotely worried about the safety of his spot at WWE's apex, but it'd be reasonable to assume that in May 1998, he might have been doing everything possible to ensure nothing halted his or the company's momentum as both continued to rise back to the top of the industry.

Perhaps that's why he insisted that he wasn't going to get baited or hooked by Vince McMahon and Mick Foley as they ludicrously cavorted around at the top of the ramp to the Dude Love music when the Over The Edge '98 main event was confirmed.

Foley had failed McMahon once before, but by destroying his best friend Terry Funk on Raw, he'd proven himself worthy of one more shot in the tye dye. It meshed the serious and silly of the era together impeccably, with the sweat-drenched Foley holding his Dude Love attire like a trophy while "dudettes" joined the pair on stage and McMahon danced with the arrogance of somebody stupid enough to believe 'The Rattlesnake' had finally been caught.

He retained the title in the eventual classic, but they got him here - Austin fights and fights but right as Raw goes off the air, the cameras catch him finally surrendering to the pop and grinning ear to ear at the absurdity taking place in front of him.
