9 Most Disappointing Wrestling Dream Matches
3. Team WWF Vs. The Alliance (Survivor Series 2001)
Ignore the fact that the team representing WCW and ECW was bereft of some of the two promotion's most recognisable stars - not least of all: Goldberg, Kevin Nash and Scott Hall - and Survivor Series 2001's five-on-five main event was actually not half bad.
This was less a disappointing spectacle than it was an unsatisfying climax to what had been one of the biggest missed booking opportunities in wrestling history, as WWE cashed in on the long-awaited Invasion angle before it had secured the signatures it needed to make things truly special.
Even if you could live without the New World Order - who would not show up on WWE TV for a further three months - the storyline was arguably still botched as a result of the one-sided way in which Vince McMahon's guys, on both sides of the divide, dominated so much of the build-up.
In the end, however exciting it was to try and second guess which Alliance members were going to join the other side, the WWF's inevitable victory brought home to everyone that this was really it, and the storyline over before ever really getting into its stride.
