9 Reasons Chris Jericho Is The Greatest All-Round Performer In Wrestling History

2. Versatility As A Character

For any new fans who weren’t watching wrestling just a few short years ago, the thought of Chris Jericho as a serious, despicable heel is probably hard to fathom. The man who carries around a list and warns people that they’re going to get “it” while hugging his best friend Kevin Owens is so far removed from the hateful *sshole who punched Shawn Michaels’ wife in the face and poured beer all over CM Punk while insulting his alcoholic father it’s hard to believe they’re the same person.

Chris is able to effortlessly shift between comedy, villainy, and heroism like none that came before him or anyone since. He’s effective at any role he’s asked to play and doesn’t allow his ego to get in the way when it comes time for him to be the butt of a joke. At the same time, he can easily be a credible world champion that the entire audience will buy into with a simple shift in attitude.

You’d be hard-pressed to name another wrestler with that kind of versatility. In fact, Kurt Angle is the only one who comes to mind, and his career unfortunately pales in comparison to Y2J.
