If The Undertaker didn't lose to Roman Reigns, what was the point of putting it on last? Such a slot meant it had to deliver something big.

We've already seen The Undertaker win at WrestleMania before. In fact, we've seen it 23 different times. We've seen The Undertaker defeat younger stars of a new generation (similar to Roman Reigns) like Randy Orton at WrestleMania 21, Batista at WrestleMania 23, and Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 31. But we've never seen The Undertaker laid to rest like he was at WrestleMania 33.

Even in the '80s, ending a career at WrestleMania has always been treated as the ultimate send-off. As far back as WrestleMania III, WWE featured the supposed retirement match of Roddy Piper, and who could forget the most recent premier retirement, that of Shawn Michaels after losing to The Undertaker in the main event of WrestleMania XXVI? With that in mind, there's no way The Undertaker's last match could've been anything but WrestleMania's main event.

Would a victory over Roman Reigns have been so special that it needed to close WrestleMania 33? Maybe, maybe not. But a loss to Roman Reigns and subsequent retirement? There's no doubt about it.
