4. Roman Reigns Was The Only Superstar To Do It

Whether or not the fans like and verbally support Roman Reigns clearly hasn't mattered much to Vince McMahon and WWE, but the reality is that, in 2017, there was no other superstar that could've beaten The Undertaker, much less retired him at WrestleMania. When you consider the amount of heat and backlash Roman already receives from fans, this decision made so much sense.

WWE has no babyface that is universally loved enough to the point that they would be "forgiven" for retiring Undertaker. Similarly, there's no heel over enough to defeat The Undertaker and not receive a swell of support for retiring The Undertaker (i.e. Bray Wyatt). Considering Brock Lesnar already ended 'the Streak', this left no other talent for it to be but Roman Reigns.

Roman Reigns is not your traditional heel and he's certainly not a super-over babyface. But given his positioning and the massive amounts of heat he already has with the WWE audience, Roman was the perfect choice to retire The Undertaker at WrestleMania 33.
