Looking at the win/loss criteria, it’s really hard to argue with PWI’s top selection.

From 1 July, 2015 to 30 June, 2016, Roman was largely unstoppable. So if you look at it in the “wrestling is real” sense that the magazine did, then he’s one of the best fighters on the planet.

Looking at just his televised win/loss record during the time that they counted for, Roman was 26-6 in singles matches and 25-4 in tag matches, so 51-10 all together. Oh, and he also won a fatal four way match this year, a triple threat and two handicap matches where he beat the League of Nations by himself.

Basically, the only gimmick match he didn’t win the entire year was The Royal Rumble, and he came pretty close. So yeah. Roman was pretty unstoppable.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
