9 Times Wrestlers Were Draped In Gold
1. Kurt Angle, Quadruple Champion In TNA
At 2007's Victory Road event, World Title holder Kurt Angle would form a brief TNA Two-Man Power Trip with X-Division champion Samoa Joe to battle the tag team champions, Brother Ray and Brother Devon of Team 3D. The wrinkle? Whoever scored the pinfall would end up with the loser's title belt.
Samoa Joe pinned Brother Ray, becoming a double champion. And for some reason, Samoa Joe won both tag team titles, despite only pinning one man. As much as my English teacher would hate this next statement, it was undeniable: Samoa Joe was the tag team champions.
Joe then challenged Kurt to a winner-take-all match at the next TNA pay-per-view, Hard Justice. By this point, Kurt was also the IWGP Heavyweight champion, after winning the IGF version of the belt from Brock Lesnar. So at Hard Justice, four championships (and five actual belts) were on the line.
Kurt was victorious, standing tall as a quadruple champion -- the One-Man Power Trip, you might say -- holding the World title, the X-Division title, the tag team titles, and the IWGP Heavyweight Title.
At the No Surrender pay-per-view, Kurt was truly a wrestling machine, surviving three championship defenses. He lost the X-Division title to Jay Lethal and the tag team titles to Ron Killings and Pacman Jones, but retained the World title against Abyss.
And none of the titles suffered for the journey.
