9 Ups & 1 Down From Last Night's WWE SmackDown (Sept 25)
3. Match Of The Night
SmackDown was missing its usual good-to-great match this week, with most of the night's in-ring offerings too short to scrape that territory, even if each one served a purpose. The closest we got was a 12-minute scrap between former tag partners The Miz and R-Truth, which wouldn't have been anything to shout about on any other episode, but had no glaring flaws, and enough going on to finish as a clear match of the night.
Building on a previous main event encounter that saw Truth walk away with an unlikely DQ victory, it saw Miz get his win back with a thumb to the eye, the Skull-Crushing Finale, and Daniel Bryan's Busaiku Knee Kick, as 'The A-Lister' baited his commentating rival.
With Miz, Orton, Nakamura, and Samoa Joe all doing their thing, WWE's best heels are all found on SmackDown. Miz's win ended Truth TV's brief, entertaining run, but we can't not give his an opponent a nod here too. The 46-year-old will never blow you away from bell-to-bell, but he hasn't let himself down since mounting this unlikely return to relevance, and once again looked strong against a wrestler he was never going to pin.
