9 Ups & 3 Downs From IMPACT Wrestling (27 May)

3. Making Basic Work

Much like their show-opening promo, the Good Brothers vs. Moose and Sami Callihan was a basic wrestling concept in that two rivals were being forced to get along for just because their opponents were a bigger concern for the pair of them.

It worked, though, because it’s Moose, Sami Callihan, Doc Gallows, and Karl Anderson.

The quartet worked a decent match that focused primarily on the uneasy tension between Moose and Sami. Moose slamming Callihan on top of Anderson and the mere fact they tagged each other in normally rather than via chops was crucial.

Moose, setting up for the Lights Out, was blind tagged out by Callihan, resulting in Moose booting ‘The Death Machine’ in the jaw. A Magic Killer later on earned Gallows and Anderson a win, with Moose laying waste to Sami post-match with a Spear.

This told an exceptional story. The Good Brothers were great in wearing down Sami throughout the match because it followed on from what was said in the aforementioned promo. Kenny Omega and co. know that they can control Moose, but they can’t control Sami. Having them jump at the chance to pin Sami after Moose had turned on him doesn’t make them look weak, it makes them look smart and tactical. Solid stuff.
