9 Ups & 3 Downs From Impact Wrestling (Jun 9)
7. Cousin Jake Shines Through
It's been a fact for months now that Cousin Jake is an underrated star in Impact. The way he launches opponents across the ring or the way he smacks them down with one strike is comparable to that of Keith Lee. His tag bout this week allowed for that to shine through better than ever before, as he and Willie Mack near enough decimated Chris Bey and Johnny Swinger.
Jake used his frame to pounce upon 'The Swing Man', whereas one lariat turned Bey entirely inside out. There's something about seeing smaller stars being destroyed by their larger adversaries that has a massive appeal to this columnist. While we didn't see it in this particular match, Jake's ability to glide through the air like the very best of the X division makes him one of the most diverse wrestlers in Impact today.
'Chocolate Thunder' used a Stunner on Swinger to gain the win for he and the Deaner cousin, with Cody Deaner making a return to the Impact Zone post-match to save Mack and his cousin from The Finesse and Bench Press Express. While it's a shame we won't be seeing any more of Cody's Kwaranteen skits, at least we now have The Deaners back in an Impact ring.
