9 Ups & 3 Downs From ROH Final Battle 2022

1. Needless Filler

Full disclosure, your writer is a big fan of both 2point0 and Top Flight. Was there any need for Matt Menard and Angelo Parker to cut a mid-show, in-ring promo ahead of Wheeler Yuta vs. Daniel Garcia, though? Absolutely not.

The backstage segment between 2point0 and Top Flight will lead to a match between the two tandems, and both teams could be great assets to the Ring of Honor tag division. But having Menard and Parker then conduct a promo to hype Chris Jericho vs. Claudio Castagnoli and Yuta vs. Garcia just felt utterly pointless.

Did Final Battle have some time to kill? And if so, couldn't those few minutes have been allocated to one of the matches still to come? 2point0's mic work is always good, and their talking here was fine in delivery, but the whole in-ring segment just felt completely needless.

Once described as the Swiss Army Knife of WhatCulture, Andrew can usually be found writing, editing, or presenting on a wide range of topics. As a lifelong wrestling fan, horror obsessive, and comic book nerd, he's been covering those topics professionally as far back as 2010. In addition to his current WhatCulture role of Senior Content Producer, Andrew previously spent nearly a decade as Online Editor and Lead Writer for the world's longest-running genre publication, Starburst Magazine, and his work has also been featured on BBC, TechRadar, Tom's Guide, WhatToWatch, Sportkskeeda, and various other outlets, in addition to being a Rotten Tomatoes-approved film critic.
