9 Ups & 4 Downs From Impact Wrestling Turning Point 2020
2. Wobbly Opener
When it was announced that Eddie Edwards vs. Daivari had been added to the Turning Point card this past Tuesday, it seemed an odd addition. Really, it was just a way to get Eddie on the card, seeing as he's not doing much right now, and with Daivari returning at Bound For Glory, why not bring him in again to battle the former two-time World Champion.
Daivari focused the majority of his onslaught on Eddie's arm throughout the match, aside from a delightful top rope Frankensteiner. It's not exactly the greatest way to combat, erm, the Boston Knee Party. A knee-based offensive manoeuvre. Even worse, Eddie failed to remember about the damage done to the arm as the match progressed, busting out a Tiger Driver as if his arm was totally fine.
Referee Brandon Tolle caught Daivari using the ropes for leverage, which led to Eddie securing the win with that flying knee strike to kick the night off. It wasn't necessarily the worst match we've ever seen, but it didn't live up to the expectations it very well could have surpassed. Not the best start to an otherwise pay-per-view quality card.
