TLC matches are rarely short affairs. Since many of the spots require a lot of setup time (and then recovery time selling the move afterward), they tend to last a little on the longer end. No, nothing has approached the 47-minute Hell in a Cell epic with Triple H and Shawn Michaels, but the gimmick does require some time. The longest TLC match took place at Unforgiven 2006 between John Cena and Edge, where Cena defeated Edge for his WWE Championship in 25:28. A Raw Fatal 4-Way match for the Tag Team Championships in 2002 was just 20 seconds shorter. The majority of TLC matches nine of the 15 have lasted more than 20 minutes. However, the shortest TLC match on record was a Miz title defense against Jerry Lawler that lasted just under 12 minutes on Raw in 2010. That match is notable mainly for Michael Cole officially turning heel, costing Lawler the match and kicking off their feud that would drag well into 2012.
