9 WWE TLC Facts And Statistics You Need To Know

3. A Champion€™s Edge(?)

Of the 15 TLC matches in WWE history, 14 have involved a championship. Of that, one was for a vacant World Heavyweight Championship and one unified the two world titles last year. In five of those remaining 12 matches, the challenger has emerged victorious, becoming champion. So it€™s by no means a safe bet that the champ will escape with his title around his waist. The Dudleys lost their Tag Team Championships at WrestleMania X-Seven to Edge & Christian in the second TLC match. Champions would retain in the next three TLC matches, only to see Edge lose his title to John Cena. Then CM Punk and D-Generation X won titles at two separate 2009 events. Finally, Edge would get a form of retribution by winning the World Heavyweight championship in 2010. There will be no title switches this year, as Dean Ambrose and Bray Wyatt will do battle in a TLC contest that is more of a grudge match. The only other non-title TLC match? The 2012 bout featuring the Shield versus Team Hell No and Ryback.
