9 WWE Wrestlers Who Won ONLY World Championships
4. The Great Khali
Upon looking at The Great Khali, it's not difficult to understand why Vince McMahon wanted to put the World Championship on him.
The 7'1", 400+ pound Punjabi monster captured the big gold belt fairly early into his career, winning a 20-man Battle Royal for the vacant title on a 2007 episode of SmackDown. Though his complete lack of in-ring talents and mobility were largely evident by this point, he wasn't quite the joke that he would become later on in his career, so it still made sense to an extent.
Still, fans absolutely f***ing hated Khali as World Champion.
Not because he was a good heel, but because of his aforementioned inability to wrestle and his incomprehensible, marble-mouthed promos. Nevertheless, he held onto the belt for a grueling 61 days, even racking up two successful PPV title defenses along the way. Mercifully, his reign ended at that year's Unforgiven, courtesy of a Spinebuster from Batista, who apparently could not get the 7-foot, 400+ pound broomstick up for a Batista Bomb.
The Khali experiment was met with such aversion that WWE never entrusted him with the World Championship, or any championship for that matter, again. Still, he remained with the WWE for an additional seven years, where he was demoted to jobber status by the end of his run.
