9 WWE Wrestlers Who Won ONLY World Championships

3. Sgt. Slaughter

When I was doing research for this list, I was shocked to learn that WWE Legend Sgt. Slaughter's only championship in the WWF was the WWF Championship.

Surely, he had to have been a Tag Team Champion or an Intercontinental Champion, right? Wrong. Well, surely he won the Hardcore Championship while he was WWF Commissioner in the late '90s, right? Surprisingly, wrong again.

No, Slaughter toiled on and off in the WWF from 1980 to 1985 without a single title victory. It wasn't until age 42 that Slaughter returned to the WWF to win the "winged eagle" from The Ultimate Warrior at the 1991 Royal Rumble.

Sadly for Slaughter, his fate was made apparent rather quickly, as Hulk Hogan won the Rumble match later on that night. So, of course, the heroic babyface Hogan challenged the (inexplicably) Iraqi-sympathizing Slaughter for the title at WrestleMania VII, and of course, Hogan won.

Slaughter's reign lasted a total of 64 days, and he never reclaimed it. As of this writing, he hasn’t yet won the 24/7 Championship for a nostalgia pop, but given how frequently WWE rolls him out for "old school" shows, it's only a matter of time.
