He may not have been successful in his quest to dethrone Drew McIntyre as WWE Champion at last night’s TLC PPV, but if the Phenomenal One gets his way then he’ll be facing one of two legendary names at WrestleMania 37.

Speaking to Alex McCarthy at talkSPORT, Styles revealed that Edge and Triple H are his dream opponents for next year’s Showcase of the Immortals.

As Styles put it:

“Well, if it can’t be Drew McIntyre, give me Edge. If it can’t be Edge, give me Triple H. There’s a number of guys that are willing to step up, and it can be any one of those. I’m telling you, I want Edge. I got some payback to get from the Royal Rumble. I got some payback to get from that Spear. So it’s time to get some payback.”

Honing in on Triple H, AJ revealed that he’s long been pestering the Game for a match:

“I feel like I’ve put him in a situation like the Undertaker, like ‘Hey, hey, hey…’. Will he accept? I don’t know. These are guy that I’ve always thought, ‘Wow, they’re great’. Even speaking to them, you realise their mindset and the way they approach things are totally different to a lot of other performers. They just, there’s something about them. There’s a reason why he’s [Triple H] still doing what he’s doing. NXT is a brand because of Triple H, there’s no question about that. So I would love to see how that would work in a match with him. Will it ever happen? I don’t know, but I’m trying, guys!”

Famously, Styles and Undertaker have talked about how AJ rang the Deadman and pestered him for a match. While that match was supposed to be a standard in-ring contest, it ultimately became the Boneyard Match at WrestleMania 36.

Where AJ Styles’ WrestleMania career is concerned, first came a defeat to Chris Jericho at WrestleMania 32, then came a WrestleMania 33 opener against Shane McMahon which surpassed all expectations. At WrestleMania 34, Styles went in as the WWE Champion and retained against Shinsuke Nakamura, got a major win over Randy Orton at WrestleMania 35, and the there was this year’s Undertaker bout.
