12. D'Lo Brown Vs. Jeff Jarrett - 1999

Another fun fact: the Intercontinental title has been defended in the opening bout of SummerSlam on four occasions, which is the same as all other title matches combined. 50% of the time the champion has failed to retain their titles, and D'Lo Brown was the first to lose their strap in the opening match of SummerSlam. Not only that, but he also had the ignominy of losing two belts, and being turned on by two people! SummerSlam 1999 sucked for D'Lo Brown.

It started off okay as Debra, who had just been shunned by Jeff Jarrett and came out to make him jealous, leads him to the ring. She wasn’t wearing much at all, by the way. I assume D'Lo had watched wrestling at some point in his life, so he really should have seen this entire thing coming. Because it was 1999, the match breaks down quickly and Jarrett threatens to use the guitar. Baby Mark Henry comes out, running buddy of D-Lo Brown at the time, to even the odds. Of course, D'Lo is a fool, Henry cracks the guitar over his constantly shaking head and we’ve got a new duel champion. For good measure, Debra reunites with Jarrett after the match.

The match itself? Not bad at all!
