All WWE Horror Movies Ranked Worst To... Less Bad
5. Incarnate
Incarnate begins with David Mazouz, a couple of years into Gotham at this point, getting possessed by an arch-demon. We then meet Aaron Eckhart in the dreams of another possessed man as we learn that this film's exorcisms take the form of Inception-style dream sequences.
Right off the bat, there's a lot of promise here. The film knows that its premise is the main selling point, and tries to flesh out this concept through dialogue with Eckhart and his plucky assistants.
Unfortunately, all the world-building that follows is... well, kind of stupid.
For instance, we learn that Eckhart's character enters the minds of the possessed through a process that brings him within eight minutes of death.
We then learn that he can do this just as easily during REM sleep, so there's no reason for these stakes. There's also a "time glitch" that renders time meaningless in the dream world, so the stakes shouldn't technically exist anyway.
Most bizarrely, however, we're told the demon has access to all of her victims' memories, hopes and fears. Eckhart therefore has to forge a safe exit through the psyche by digging deep and...learning his clients' favorite colors.
Why not? It makes as much sense as anything else in this movie.
