8. Big Show

After his brief appearance at RAW Legends Night at the beginning of January, fans would have been forgiven for thinking that Big Show might make an equally fleeting appearance at the 2021 Royal Rumble. Big Show is something of a Rumble legend, posing as a threat to win every single year but generally flattering to deceive, save for a couple of runner-up attempts in the early '00s. Only Kane has been in more Rumbles, and only a handful of legends have eliminated more men than the World's Largest Athlete.

With all that in mind, it was a little surprising that Big Show wasn't in the 2021 Rumble, but also sort of positive. What use is there for Show at this point? The former World Heavyweight Champion has run his race and has definitely earned his eventual place in the WWE Hall of Fame. Occasional appearances on TV should be his limit at this point.

Big Show is going to go down in history as a legitimate icon, a better than you remember big man who overcame a lifetime of alignment changes and criticism to carve out a legitimately impressive career. He is missed in his own way, but there's no need for him to take someone's spot at the Rumble anymore.

Unlike certain Big Red Mayors...

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
