Australian Rugby Star Daniel Vidot Signs WWE Contract

Australian rugby player Daniel Vidot (above, left) has secured a developmental contract with WWE. Posting a video on his Facebook page to confirm the news, the 25-year-old star who plays in Australia's National Rugby League for the Brisbane Broncos, impressed WWE officials after completing a three-day tryout at Florida's WWE Performance Centre. Newspapers in his homeland claim WWE had been courting Vidot for over a year and were keen to secure the deal.

"US scouts believe Vidot has the size, strength and Polynesian look to match Dwayne €˜The Rock€™ Johnson, the WWE legend who has since become a Hollywood star.

Vidot claims he has signed a three-year deal with WWE but in what would appear to be an unusually structured deal, he will continue playing rugby for the next few years. He will first see out his current rugby contract with his team before making the transition to professional wrestling. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeGZjLq-wCM The news of WWE courting Vidot was first revealed last month when reports surfaced that he was seriously considering a switch to professional wrestling when his rugby playing days were over. He said of WWE's interest in September;

€œThey€™ve contacted me and have offered to fly me over to Orlando in a few weeks to try out for the WWE" €œThey first approached me last year but I was playing good football with the Broncos, so I didn€™t take it seriously. €œThen just recently they contacted me again and I€™ve decided I€™m going to have a crack at it.€

It was noted in the piece that he had a love of wrestling since he was a kid and that The Undertaker had been a favourite.
