Randy Orton is reportedly primed for a "big angle" on WWE SmackDown, having pledged his kayfabe allegiance to the show last Friday.

Fightful Select reports that WWE had wanted to capitalise on Orton's buzz after returning from an 18-month absence at Survivor Series 2023, hence why he was on Raw ahead of joining the SmackDown roster.

The Raw move allowed Orton to work a singles bout with Dominik Mysterio and wrap a handful of storylines. Amongst these were Randy's lingering issues with Jey Uso, which WWE wanted to give closure to, as Jey is now a major babyface on Monday nights. The promotion also wanted to wrap Orton's situation with The Judgment Day.

On SmackDown, Orton appears set to be involved with the Bloodline for the foreseeable future. Michael Hayes produced Orton's segments on Raw and SmackDown last week, which is notable as the former Freebird typically handles everything relating to Roman Reigns and his heel group.

WWE is understood to be happy with Randy Orton's return to the promotion, having previously been out due to serious injury since May 2022. Specifically, the company is satisfied with his conditioning and performances so far.
