Batista Wants WWE Return At Untelevised Events

Batista angling for a Chris Jericho style deal.

Dave Batista wants to make a WWE return at untelevised events. He told the HeyUGuys youtube channel that he would be open to returning on a Chris Jericho style deal that doesn't involve the commitment of television. This is surprising in some respects. Batista was speaking at the London premiere of Avengers Age Of Ultron, and it has largely been presumed that he's done with pro wrestling. But by the sounds of it, he's totally open to coming back if it doesn't impact his film career. Asked if he would come back, he replied "I would. I love wrestling." "I talked to Chris Jericho recently and he does a lot of untelevised events. And I think I might take that path and do untelevised events, because the television you're just too locked in, too locked with scripts that arent that great these days. I just want to go back and entertain the fans." It is a really interesting thing for Batista to say. For one, he's pretty frank about the creative being no good right now. Secondly, it's interesting that he'd want to go back only for untelevised events. Yes it cuts out a lot of the time consuming commitments, but it also minimises his value to an extent. A wrestler of his calibre should be wise enough to know that every match he works should be for big money. Look at The Rock, if he wrestles, he only does it at WrestleMania. In a way, Batista would be diluting his worth by putting himself on the same status as Chris Jericho. But none of this is likely anyway. At the end of the day, too many things would have to come together to make this work for such a big star. Also, WWE are probably going to be insistent that any matches should be on a major show.
