With Chris Jericho the current (and first ever!) AEW World Champion, Le Champion has elaborated a little on what led him to leave WWE and sign for the fledgling AEW promotion.

Speaking on the latest episode of his Talk is Jericho podcast, the multiple-time World Champion revealed that one of the main reasons he’s now with AEW is because Vince McMahon told him to go to All Elite.

As Jericho put it, “I’m not in AEW because I was a rebel. I’m with AEW because Vince went, ‘Go.’ And then, when I went, he went,’ Did you sign the contract?’ I said, ‘Well, yeah.’ He said, ‘Can you get out of it?’ ‘No! You told me to sign!’”

So the he said, she said of it all, is Vince McMahon encouraged Chris Jericho to sign with WWE, but then Vinny Mac had seller’s remorse.

Coincidentally, this episode of Talk is Jericho featured Scott Hall – another performer who McMahon similarly encouraged to sign with WCW, before then regretting that decision.

To close out this discussion, Jericho did talk about how fondly he thinks of Vince and how he’s got a whole lot of love for the WWE head honcho.
