CM Punk: 10 Reasons WWE Fans Have Turned On Him

4. Punk's Silence And Then His Hockey Tweets

One of the reasons fans fell out with CM Punk is because of his silence on Twitter for so long. After the initial dispute he went months without tweeting. This served to fuel fan hopes that it was all some sort of angle, which inevitably created a sense of resentment when that didn't prove the case. By not nipping those hopes in the bud, by not clarifying his position, Punk went on a loaded silence which was hope for fans that soured into bitterness. Right or wrong, fans feel they own a piece of Punk, they've watched and supported him religiously on TV, they felt they deserved an answer. As it became clear that Punk would remain silent, fans lost the connection they once had with him. Then all of a sudden in recent weeks we started to hear from Punk... about hockey. Again, this served to rile fans, who felt he owed some sort of reference to WWE. At the end of the day, fans buy tickets months in advance and buy merchandise to support CM Punk, he then doesn't bother showing up to his contracted shows and tweets about how much fun he's having at the hockey? It is a bit disrespectful. When Payback took place from his hometown of Chicago he was a contracted performer. He spent the night tweeting about a hockey mascot instead.
