CM Punk Jokes About WWE's Retribution Faction
'That smart-assed Punk' - Vince McMahon, 2020 (probably).
CM Punk never misses a chance to either roast or crack light-hearted jokes about the pro wrestling biz on social media these days.
The former WWE Champ's latest merrymaking came at the expense of the promotion's new Retribution faction. He quipped that every member of the thuggish, renegade group should be outed as the grandchildren of old-timey wrestling promoters Vince McMahon put out of business.
What's more, Punk thinks they should be led on their anti-WWE crusade by former AWA management (and son of Verne) Greg Gagne.
Smell the ratings.
Punk obviously fancied having a giggle and thinks it'd be kick ass for WWE to acknowledge that they hammered the territorial system by expanding so ruthlessly in the mid-1980s. Now, he reckons, it'd be the ideal time for any families affected by McMahon's business practices to band together and seek revenge 30 years later.
Fans didn't appear to get the joke on Twitter and roasted Punk for his suggestion. He then fired back by saying, "Gosh. Some of you just aren’t ready for long term story telling" and included an eye-rolling emoji.
This is totally where Gagne headlines WrestleMania (in a managerial role) and Punk's plan backfires.
