Conflicting Reports On Britt Baker Wanting To LEAVE AEW (AEW News)

Is Britt Baker looking for the AEW exit door?

With Britt Baker having been absent from AEW programming since last November, D.M.D. once again finds herself in the wrestling news cycle due to conflicting reports about her current status.

The last time fans saw Britt on TV, she picked up a Dynamite win over Penelope Ford. Of course, that was only half the story, though, as a post-match confrontation with Serena Deeb saw Baker say "nobody cares" several times into the camera. That was immediately followed by reports that Tony Khan was "fed up" with the former AEW Women's Champion and that all creative plans for her had been dropped. This itself came not too long after an August suspension for Britt after a backstage altercation involving Alicia Atout and MJF.

Since then, Baker got the wrestling world talking by removing all mentions of AEW from her social media accounts, and there has been constant speculation on what Britt Baker's AEW future looks like.

On this matter, Bodyslam.net now reports that Britt is "actively seeking to part ways with AEW", though adds that Tony Khan "isn't looking to release Baker from her contract". This story also notes how one reason for Khan's unwillingness to release the Roll Model is that he doesn't want to risk Britt making a surprise appearance at WWE Evolution later this month, nor did he want her to debut in her hometown of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvannia, which coincidentally was the location of this week's Raw and SmackDown double-taping.

However, Fightful Select disputes such reports, noting how, from sources familiar with the Britt Baker situation, Britt wanting out of AEW or communicating that to the company is "news to them". As the outlet reported last month, Fightful again reiterated that the 34-year-old still has substantial time left on her existing AEW deal, with those previous reports stating Baker signed a five-year contract in late 2021, suggesting she's tied to AEW until at least the end of 2026. Should any time for injury be added on, that could realistically keep Britt Baker under contract until some point in 2027.

Following those plans for a Britt Baker vs. Serena Deeb match being completely dropped, Fightful's AEW sources say that Britt was open to returning to AEW TV, but that ultimately didn't happen due to "hold ups" in conversations between the parties. Likewise, there were also internal talks of bringing Baker back for a prominent match at Double or Nothing in May, but it's not known if those internal discussions actually made their way to Britt herself.

Concluding their latest report on Britt Baker's AEW status, Fightful stated that every source they reached out to on this "vehemently denied" that the star was actively trying to secure her AEW exit.

Of course, until Britt Baker does resurface on AEW programming, such speculation over her status and future will only continue to rear their head every few weeks, with it now seven months since the Good Doctor was last in action.
