Dolph Ziggler Moving Into A Backstage WWE Role?

Is The Show Off's show over?

We're a couple days away from No Mercy, which features Dolph Ziggler vs. The Miz in a career vs. title match. While it seemed rather likely that Ziggler would walk away with the win to finally obtain that feel good moment, there are rumors going around that he may he may be taking the loss. This is according to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live.

In more surprising news, both Alvarez and Ric Flair on his podcast said they've heard Ziggler may be transitioning into a backstage producer role. Former wrestlers Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury both moved into that position years before they may have been ready to hang up the boots, so it's not unprecedented.

This seems like a pretty bad move if it's true. Ziggler is 36, but he still seems to be in fantastic shape. Perhaps his years of crazy bumps have caught up to him, but no news of that sort has come out. While he likely will never become that top star WWE had hoped for, he's still an effective upper mid-carder. And SmackDown (and the company in general), is in desperate need of any star power.

If this is the end, Ziggler has always been interested in stand-up, and has appeared on Fox Business a few times as of late, so perhaps he's been trying to lay the groundwork for life outside of wrestling.

Sunday night's match has become even more interesting, and will be very telling.

As Rust Cohle from True Detective said "Life's barely long enough to get good at one thing. So be careful what you're good at." Sadly, I can't solve a murder like Rust...or change a tire, or even tie a tie. But I do know all the lyrics to Hulk Hogan's "Real American" theme song and can easily name every Natural Born Thriller from the dying days of WCW. I was once ranked 21st in the United States in Tetris...on the Playstation 3 version...for about a week. Follow along @AndrewSoucek and check out my podcast at wrestlingwithfriends.com
