4. Edge VS Mick Foley - Hardcore Match (WrestleMania 22)
Edge is a great babyface, but many rightly consider him a true heel at heart, and he was never more wicked than he was at WrestleMania 2006, when taking on Mick Foley in a hardcore match.
Like Triple H, six years prior, Edge's villainy was the perfect mix of earnest fear and a callous desire to ruin a crazy man's life. And so Edge and Mick beat seven shades of crap out of each other with every hardcore utensil in the book. As a Cactus Jack revival for Mick Foley, this whole spectacle could have been embarrassing, but it turned out to be the opposite in every conceivable sense.
The iconic spear to Foley through a flaming table was only the tip of the iceberg. Edge sold every spot from start to finish and, with the promiscuous Lita by his side, lived up to the R-Rated portion of his character in a way we simply would not see in WWE today.
Blood, guts and other adult content, as a prerequisite, was on the verge of dying out in WWE. Matches like this ensured that it wouldn't go quietly.
