Edge's 2020 Injury Reportedly Happened During Reshoot That WWE Didn't Use

A retake that WWE left on the cutting room floor may have cost Edge seven months.

Last year, Edge suffered a nasty triceps tear during his 'Greatest Wrestling Match Ever' clash with Randy Orton at Backlash. The 'Rated-R Superstar' then spent approx seven months rehabbing his injury, but returned in time to win WWE's 2021 Royal Rumble.

According to ex-NXT/205 Live team Ever-Rise, the injury happened during a reshot spot that WWE didn't actually use in the final edit.

Chase Parker and Matt Martel claimed via their 'TheShowRULES' podcast that they watched Edge and Orton work for a solid 45 minutes. Then, after a short break, WWE's production crew wanted the pair to re-enter the ring and shoot some alternative spots that could make it easier for those editing the footage.

That's reportedly when Edge tore his muscle.

In other words, the triceps tear was totally avoidable and didn't actually happen during the main meat of the performance. That sucks; Ever-Rise suggested that Edge must've cooled off between shots. That'd cost him a huge chunk of time in the long run.

Was it really worth all that trouble to get these extra scenes? Probably not, especially considering the fact that WWE didn't use them in the end anyway.
