Randy Savage’s first run was champion in WWE came in 1988, when he held the title for a year. Unfortunately, like Warrior, he had to do it in Hulk Hogan’s shadow, as the two operated as the Mega Powers. After their explosion, the two clashed for the title at WrestleMania V, when Hogan won the title. With the Hulkster departing for Hollywood in 1992, someone needed to claim the mantle of top babyface, so the Macho Man defeated Ric Flair at WrestleMania VIII to win his second world title.

While not as much a draw as he was in 1989, Savage was still widely beloved by fans, and his second title run saw him feud with the likes of Flair and the Ultimate Warrior, the latter of whom eventually teamed up with Savage to form the Ultimate Maniacs - who had the greatest gear in the history of ever.

Unfortunately, the fact that his drawing power had diminished doomed his title reign, and he dropped it back to Flair in September. Still, it was nice for fans to finally see Macho not have to share the spotlight with Hulk Hogan.
