Every WWE Clash Of Champions Match Ranked From Worst To Best
18. TJP Vs. The Brian Kendrick (2016)
This match should have been an excellent display of the fresh Cruiserweight division, which WWE actually cared about following the success of the Cruiserweight Classic tournament. Unfortunately it failed to live up to expectations.
Despite both men's extensive experience in the business and the committed performance of The Brian Kendrick, this 10 minute match for the Cruiserweight championship didn't result in anything special. TJP was the main problem, spending large stretches of the match showing off his submission abilities, transitioning between multiple submission holds for no reason other than to try and impress people with his fluidity.
Instead of overwhelming the crowd with his technical mastery, it contrasted against Kendrick's sincere struggle for the belt, and made the match lose a significant amount of its importance.
When the two eventually got going, their technical styles didn't result in anything impressive and by the time the match was over, it had collectively faded from the audience's memory. It was a shame that the plans for the belt and the division were put on TJP’s shoulders last minute as he wasn’t capable of properly holding them up. A major letdown.
