Taking place at the first Money in the Bank event, Kane was the first person to cash the title opportunity on the same night it was won. That’s the only noteworthy aspect of this championship match.

In the build up to the event, The Undertaker was set to face World Heavyweight Champion, Jack Swagger. However, being found in a vegetative state by his on-screen brother, Kane, the number one spot was up for grabs. Mysterio won a Fatal Four Way by pinning Kane to meet Swagger at the inaugural Money in the Bank event.

After beating Jack Swagger to retain the World Heavyweight Title, Rey Mysterio was attacked by the All American American in a post-match beatdown. Kane came to the rescue and left for Rey to celebrate his victory.

Kane then returned, but this time with a referee. Hell’s Favourite Demon gave Mysterio a Chokeslam and a tombstone before pinning him, capturing the title in under one minute.

While Kane leaving only to return moments later might seem like a good idea for shock value, it was a shallow attempt by writers to pull a fast one on the audience.

The Devil's Favourite Demon would go on to have a feud with The Undertaker, after it turned out he was the one to have attacked him a few weeks before.
