5. The Cuckolding Payoff
Vinnie Mac loves a cuckolding storyline. We got two massive ones in the past year alone and, as can only be expected from a billionaire with the attention span of a goldfish, they only served to humiliate the men involved.
There was no payoff to the Kanellis storyline that saw Maria abusing Mike for his constant losses, before claiming that her pregnancy was nothing to do with him. Likewise, there was no redemption when Bobby Lashley lied to Lana about Rusev and used the hatred those lies so easily stirred to steal her heart and marry her. At no point did Mike or Rusev ever stand tall and make these storylines worthwhile. These things just happened, and were forgotten.
Now Mike & Maria Kanellis' and Rusev are all out of WWE (yet Bobby Lashley and Lana remain, so take the moral lesson you want from there, PG audience) as part of the mass firings of April.
In Rusev's case, it was probably no surprise. Despite being ridiculously over with the crowd, Rusev faced continual efforts to bury him until he asked for his release in 2018. If anything, he seems relieved to be free.
