With it previously known that Kofi Kingston was set to undergo ankle surgery, the New Day man has confirmed that this surgery was a success.

Taking to Instagram, Kingston noted how this surgery went "very well", and detailed how he's now back home. For those wondering, the procedure took place - like so many similar surgeries - in Birmingham, Alabama.

Kofi suffered this injury on the 3 March episode of SmackDown, with it believed that the damage was done when Kingston was one of several wrestlers Drew McIntyre took out with a dive to the outside.

That SmackDown was intended to set Kofi up as one of the five competitors vying for a shot at GUNTHER's Intercontinental Championship at WrestleMania 39 on the following week's outing for WWE's blue brand. When it became apparent that the former WWE Champion was hurt, Kingston's spot in the match was taken by Xavier Woods.

As for that title shot, it's now finally been confirmed that GUNTHER will be defending his prize against both McIntyre and Sheamus at the Showcase of the Immortals next month.

Here's hoping all the best for Kofi Kingston as he embarks on the road to recovery.

News of this surgery comes hot on the heels of AEW's Chuck Taylor having to recently undergo emergency dental surgery, whilst Danhausen will unfortunately go under the knife on Tuesday after suffering a pec tear at AEW Revolution earlier this month.
