Full Details On The UK WWE Network Launching On Monday
Availability and price of the UK's WWE Network.
The full details of WWE's UK Network are now available. The company sent out an email on Thursday evening that highlighted several interesting points. The official launch date is this Monday, the third of November. Like the US, new customers will get this month free. After that, you'll pay what WWE calls "US $9.99 per month with no commitment." So, basically, that equals £6.25 a month. That's a very interesting price point. It means that there's no longer any reason UK fans should stay subscribed to the US version. It will actually now be cheaper to subscribe to the UK version, as fans needed a $4.99 Unblock Us subscription to get around the US Network's geography lock. There had been the notion that fans who had been signed up with the US version wouldn't switch when the UK Network launched, but now it makes economic sense to make the change. Unless of course the UK Network ends up being an abridged version of the complete US product. However, by all accounts, it'll be the exact same service and setup. Another interesting point is how this will look to Sky. The UK broadcaster is offering Survivor Series on Sky Sports Box Office at £14.95. Why would any UK fan pay that when they can get it free on the Network and then cancel before paying if they wish? The WWE / Sky relationship could end up really hurt by this major change in business model. Remember that the Network had initially been delayed in the UK while the WWE talked about partnering with a third party. Those talks obviously broke down as we are now entering an over the top Network delivered solely by WWE. It will be interesting to see how things develop.
