Full Lineup For WWE July 4 Event In Japan

Brock Lesnar vs Kofi Kingston is official; Neville will take on Chris Jericho.

The WWE event taking place in Tokyo on Saturday July 4 will air in full on WWE Network. It was announced during the NXT broadcast last night and now the info is out regarding the matches that are set to take place on the event. The plan is to air the full from Tokyo at 7:30pm local time, which would be 6:30amET and 11:30am UK time. Here is the announced lineup. Lucha Dragons vs. Los Matadores Nikki Bella vs. Paige vs. Naomi for the Divas Title New Day vs. Tyson Kidd & Cesaro for Tag Team Titles (It may change since Tyson Kidd is injured.) Chris Jericho vs. Neville Kevin Owens vs. Finn Balor for NXT Title Brock Lesnar vs. Kofi Kingston John Cena & Dolph Ziggler vs. Kane & King Barrett As noted, the lineup is subject to change. It's taking place one month from now and plans change in WWE all the time, so it could be different when it airs. If you miss it live don't worry because WWE Network events are available on demand, so you can see it at your own convenience.
The one match that has people talking the most is Lesnar/Kingston because it's not like Kingston is an elite, main event level attraction. Most likely they're doing that match because they want Lesnar to face a guy he could beat pretty easily. It could also be something where Lesnar ends up taking on all three members of The New Day and beats them all up. Remember that Lesnar is a face now, so they have to book him against a heel. As we have mentioned earlier, Lesnar is making the appearance because he planned on going to Japan anyway, so he figured he might as well have WWE pay for him to be there! He's a smart businessman, after all. Chris Jericho's match with Neville should be awesome. Jericho was originally against Balor on this show, but they moved that match to the July 3 event. It's a bit of a surprise that WWE Champion Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose aren't on the show although that's how WWE touring works since they will also have a show in Winnipeg, Manitoba that night as well.
The match order isn't known at this time, but it wouldn't be a bad idea to end with Owens vs. Balor especially if Balor ends up winning the NXT Title. Balor made a huge name for himself in Japan as Prince Devitt and is beloved there, so it would be an exciting moment to see him win the NXT Title in Japan. With Owens moving to a full time WWE schedule, it's the right time to get the title off him. It's interesting that WWE would advertise Kidd because he's dealing with a neck injury after Monday's Raw. If he misses the show, what they could do is put Lucha Dragons and Los Matadores in the title match, then bring somebody else over and have Cesaro face them in a singles match. What we don't know at this time is if WWE will send an announce team to the event or if they will call the action in WWE studios. The show is still one month away, so we'll know more in the coming weeks.
