Fans inside Uniondale's Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum were given a special dark match bonus when Friday's episode of SmackDown went off the air.

WWE booked Cody Rhodes vs. Seth Rollins as the post-show treat - that was both a WrestleMania 38 rematch and a prelude to what's coming this Sunday at 'Mania Backlash. People in attendance were quick to snap pictures and videos from the bout (which Cody won) before sharing them on social media.

This, for the record, is the second time WWE has done this over the past month. Rhodes previously beat Rollins in a similar dark match bout after the 15 April episode. The company are content to make a habit of this then, and it's doubtful that any fans will complain.

Cody and Seth have serious chemistry together in-ring.

The 15 April match was Rhodes' first in a SmackDown ring since losing to Apollo Crews on the 28 April 2016 edition. Ex-AEW star Cody has come a long way since those days though. He's now one of WWE's biggest stars, and seems destined for a World Title push later this year.
