How WWE Are Quietly Building Their Next Main Event Megastar

Drew McIntyre Braun Strowman

Much like WWE typically book the average babyface like an over-awed, doe-eyed goober who becomes a wet blanket in the face of confrontation, their villains usually work from the Chickensh*t Heel playbook. It's a classic character type, and one used to generate heat for decades, but also one Vince McMahon's writing staff have done to death, with even former badasses like Kevin Owens turning to complete weasels.

McIntyre is different.

He doesn't run away, back down, or show any form of cowardice, even when face-to-face with Raw's biggest stars. Upcoming meeting the indomitable Strowman for the first time, he stared 'The Monster' dead in his eyes, then tagged himself in, calling for Braun to do the same. He didn't want to face 5'11"/190lb Finn Balor: he wanted to test himself against the man mountain instead.

Then, when Roman Reigns stomped down the ramp to save partner Seth Rollins in his first true rendezvous with McIntyre, Drew stood firm. Ziggler ate a Superman Punch on the outside, yet his partner gave nothing.
