How WWE Is Quietly Building Its Next Main Event Megastar

Sami Zayn Roman Reigns Jey Uso Bloodline

The October 28th edition of SmackDown featured the best segment of WWE television since the September 23rd edition of SmackDown, and both are contenders for the company's best of the of the entire year.

The "Ucey" exchange of ideas between Roman Reigns, Jey Uso and Sami Zayn had the wrestlers and fans p*ssing themselves laughing at everybody's desperate attempts not to corpse during the delivery. But more than that, the dialogue kept everybody on the hook for the significant narrative developments nonetheless.

When Zayn had been awarded his "Honorary Uce" shirt in September, the joviality from the newest member of the group was enormously entertaining, as were Reigns and Jey's responses to it. But the immaculately-performed parts couldn't compete with the reality of people absolutely loving what they were doing and getting the giggles a bit.

This has extended out to every match and moment any member of the group is involved in. Solo Sikoa is a fantastic enforcer and genuinely quite likes Zayn unless his 'Tribal Chief' tells him otherwise. Jimmy, meanwhile, loves Sami so much that he's starting to get bothered by his own "hot head" brother.

Or so it would all seem. Such is the dynamic of The Bloodline that this all changes and ends when Roman says so. One day, he'll reveal that he was toying with Zayn all this time, or at very least using him until he was all used up. These are still the bad guys and Roman's the most evil of all - certainly evil enough to gaslight members of his own family until he decides otherwise. Fan reactions to the key beats were exhilarating and proof of concept for the angle, as have been the various conclusions people have jumped to about Zayn and lifelong frenemy Kevin Owens eventually linking up to end The Usos' epic Tag Team Championship run.

All of this is still on the table, and pretty great too. But is it time to think bigger?
