IMPACT Wrestling Confirm Ultimate X's Return For Slammiversary
Five challengers await Josh Alexander in IMPACT Wrestling's acclaimed stipulation.
The Ultimate X match will return to IMPACT Wrestling at their Slammiversary pay-per-view on 17 July, with Trey Miguel, Ace Austin, Chris Bey, Rohit Raju, and Petey Williams challenging the X Division Champion, Josh Alexander.
This comes after Madman Fulton, Austin's bodyguard, interrupted a number one contender's bout at Saturday's Against All Odds event. IMPACT had previously teased a "dangerous" match stipulation for Slammiversary; the Ultimate X more than fits the billing.
17 July will mark the 44th Ultimate X match in IMPACT history, the first dating back to August 2003. It hasn't been held since WrestleMania 35 weekend in April 2019, however, with Johnny IMPACT going over Ace Austin, Dante Fox, Jake Crist, and Pat Buck there.
As has been previously reported, IMPACT are in the midst of essentially transforming the X Division into what it once was when the likes of AJ Styles, Christopher Daniels, and Samoa Joe were there. Alexander and TJP's recent sixty-minute Iron Man match was a major fixture in that plan, with Ultimate X's return merely acting as the next stage.
Of the six named competitors, three of them - Alexander, Bey, and Raju - are making their Ultimate X debut. Austin and Miguel have been in one each, while Williams has came out victorious in two of the five he's entered.
