Joey Mercury Arrested In Illinois
ROH producer being held on $2500 bail.
As reported by PWInsider, former WWE superstar Joey Mercury, real name Adam Birch, was arrested on Saturday in Schaumburg, IL. Birch, a current producer at Ring Of Honor, had been in the state to work on Cody and The Young Bucks' All In show at nearby Hoffman Estates.
Police confirmed they made contact with Birch on Saturday morning. He was sleeping in his vehicle outside The Marriot Schaumberg, the venue of the Starrcast convention. After running background checks on the snoozing motorist, it was discovered Birch was wanted for an outstanding warrant in Orange County, FL. He was promptly taken into custody.
Birch is currently being held on a $2500 bail at the Cook County Department of Corrections prior to a court date on Tuesday. The police department noted that there are no pending charges against the producer in the state of Illinois. There is no information at present about the nature of Birch's Florida warrant.
Last January, Birch departed WWE at the end of a seven year tenure working both on-screen and off. Since leaving the company, he has been performing on the independent scene as Joey Matthews. He had been involved in producing All In's pre-show battle royal, but his duties were said to be delegated following his arrest.
