2. The Rumble Botch

Nothing however can compare to his very biggest calamity, the disaster that was the Royal Rumble 2005 finish. The future 15 time Champion was meant to be the jobber that night, he was meant let Dave Batista throw him over the top rope. That would make Batista the winner and set him on the road to the World Title against Triple H at WrestleMania 21. Batista was the hottest thing going at the time, there could only be one winner. Somehow though, Cena managed to screw this up, causing a botch at the ring ropes which sent Batista tumbling out of the ring. Cena tried to cover by throwing himself over in the process, but clearly Batista's feet had hit the ringside first. Cena had won the rumble, but creative couldn't have that, so out came Vince McMahon to restart the match, with commentary explaining "both feet had touched at the same time." Cena then ended up responsible for temporarily crippling the boss. Rolling into the ring, the Chairman tore both his quads. He had no choice but to sit on his a** in the ring and watch like an idiot as Cena and Batista restarted the match. John had destroyed the Rumble finish, destroying the Chairman's legs in the process - it has to be considered a minor miracle that he ever got another main event opportunity!
