Kenny Omega 'Confirms' WWE ThunderDome Appearance

"I was just trying to have a good time."

Last night's SmackDown was enlivened when a number of viewers claimed to spot AEW Executive VP and all-round superstar Kenny Omega on one of the ringside LED screens comprising WWE's novel Thunderdome.

Screenshots of The Cleaner's digital attendance soon surfaced, though not without some speculation and scepticism over their veracity.

It seems - if we're to take the man himself by his word - Omega was in fact part of WWE's crowd on FOX, as he took to Twitter to confirm the cameo:

"I was just trying to have a good time," Omega Tweeted. "I honestly didn't think anyone would notice."

This raises a number of questions: 1) are WWE so out-of-touch that their usually eagle-eyed and heavy-handed production team couldn't recognise Kenny Omega? and 2) whose idea of a 'good time' is watching SmackDown of a Friday night?

Of course, Omega might have his tongue firmly in cheek, playing along with a couple of dodgy screenshots to wind us up. His suggestion that he didn't think anyone would notice certainly seems laced with satire.

In any event, you can expect Kevin Dunn to blow a gasket the next time his crew assembles.

Benjamin was born in 1987, and is still not dead. He variously enjoys classical music, old-school adventure games (they're not dead), and walks on the beach (albeit short - asthma, you know). He's currently trying to compile a comprehensive history of video game music, yet denies accusations that he purposefully targets niche audiences. He's often wrong about these things.
