Carlito's return to WWE appears to have been delayed, with the Puerto Rican absent from last Friday's SmackDown tapings at Madison Square Garden, New York City - despite the 7 July date pinpointed for a potential comeback.

PWInsider reported in June that Carlito's WWE return was planned for the 7 July episode of SmackDown. The show ended up coming and going without the former Intercontinental Champion.

In an update, PWInsider states that even though Carlito wasn't at MSG, he did travel to the northeastern United States for WWE that weekend. Carlito had been spotted waiting for a flight from Pittsburgh, PA, which is where WWE's medical headquarters are located, on Saturday.

A WWE source has indicated that had the company brought Carlito back on SmackDown, the moment "would have been lost in the wake of the Bloodline."

Carlito was last seen on WWE programming at Backlash 2023, where he commanded a monstrous crowd reaction in his native Puerto Rico. There, the midcard veteran aligned with the Latino World Order, doing so in a brawl with The Judgment Day that had broken out during the acclaimed Damian Priest vs. Bad Bunny match.
